You Have a Right to Your Wages.
Earned Wage Access (EWA) is a workers’ right and allows workers more freedom to control their finances.
The traditional two-week pay period is outdated, and it’s time for a change. EWA is a service that allows employees to access a portion of their earned wages before their next payday. This service provides much-needed financial flexibility, particularly for those living paycheck to paycheck. It enables workers to pay for unexpected expenses, avoid high-interest, predatory loans, and manage their finances more effectively.
It’s time to stand up for policies that give workers the freedom to access more of their hard-earned wages on their terms. Workers have the right to access their pay as soon as they earn it. We are committed to ensuring that employers and policymakers understand the importance of EWA as a vital tool for financial stability and security.
A proposed rule by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) would threaten EWA, and force mandatory junk fees on workers to access wages they’ve already earned. We’re fighting against these policies to protect the rights of workers and ensure they have more freedom to control their finances.
